JSU's "Request a JSU DNP Student" page, explained
In 2026 JSU added a page inviting clinical partners to host its nurse practitioner students and to take on DNP quality-improvement projects. For students it is a useful signal, but it describes an invitation and an intake form, not a placement rule. Here is what the page says, what the form asks, and how it sits beside our search.

What the page says
The page lives in the DNP section of the School of Nursing's site. Its central line reads: "Community partners are invited to connect with our students by welcoming FNP and ANP students as developing nurse practitioners within their organizations or by engaging DNP students to support quality improvement initiatives."
That sentence names two kinds of hosting. One is clinical: an organization welcomes FNP or ANP students during their practicums. The other is project work: a partner engages a DNP student whose residency project improves quality inside that organization. JSU uses ANP as the course prefix for its Adult-Gerontology Acute Care track, so ANP students here are the AGACNP track.
The page is recent. An archived copy of JSU's DNP page from April 14, 2026 does not show it, so it went live later that year.
What the intake form asks
Partners respond through an online form titled "CHPW | Program Request", named for the College of Health Professions and Wellness. Two of its questions show what JSU wants to learn from a host, and each lines up with something JSU publishes elsewhere.

The hours question leaves room for a partner to offer some semesters rather than all four. Course-by-course hours are on the FNP practicums and AGACNP practicums pages.
The timelines linked from the page
Two PDFs sit beside the request page. The FNP and ANP clinical timeline sets out the four practicum semesters and says hours are earned while working with a licensed preceptor. The DNP student clinical timeline, written for preceptors, maps the residency year from the pairing to Dissemination Day.
The DNP timeline also tells a host what it is signing up for. The preceptor meets the student four times each semester, first to plan and later to carry out the quality-improvement project, offers content suggestions for the Executive Summary, and sees results shared on site in July before JSU's Dissemination Day on campus. The pairing dates and the length of the commitment are on the residency pairing page.
What the page means for students
Read the page as evidence that JSU is widening the circle of organizations open to its FNP, ANP and DNP students. It does not describe what happens after a partner submits the form, how many organizations have replied, or where they are, so it cannot tell you whether a host exists near your home, in your track or in your semester.
It is also worth knowing about if a practice you already know wants to host a JSU student. The form is the channel JSU publishes for organizations, and it is theirs to complete. Your track clinical coordinator can explain how partner offers relate to your own clinical plan.
Nothing on the page changes the rest of the process. Your CastleBranch file, malpractice approval before any site contact, and faculty sign-off all still apply, whoever proposes the site; the approval guide walks through them.
Questions to put to your clinical coordinator
The partner page raises fair questions that it leaves open. They are worth asking early, ideally the semester before your first practicum or before DNP 8796, so the answers shape your plan instead of arriving after it.
- Are partner offers open to my track and my semester, or only to DNP projects?
- Has any partner organization near where I live responded?
- Does a given site already have agreement paperwork with JSU, or would it need a new one?
- If a partner can host for fewer than four semesters, what happens for the remaining practicums?
- Which JSU title should a preceptor contact with questions about the course?

It is a School of Nursing page, added in 2026, that invites community organizations to host FNP and ANP students or to engage DNP students on quality-improvement work. Organizations reply through an online form that asks how many students they want and, for NP students, how many hours or semesters they can support.
Does the partner page mean JSU finds my preceptor?
The page does not say. It describes an invitation to organizations and the form they complete, not what happens next or how any offer reaches a student. Ask your track clinical coordinator how partner offers relate to your plan. Whether JSU helps with your placement or not, we find you a preceptor and site that fit its rules.
Can my employer fill in JSU's partner form?
The form is open to organizations that want to host JSU students, so an employer can complete it. Clinicals at your own workplace raise separate questions: JSU's retired undergraduate practicum barred a unit of employment, and no graduate rule is posted. Check with your course faculty before suggesting it, and see workplace clinicals.
What does a DNP project host commit to at JSU?
JSU's DNP timeline for preceptors describes four meetings each semester, content suggestions for the Executive Summary, and results shared on site in July. It also expects the same preceptor and clinical site across the residency courses. In return, the organization hosts a DNP project that supports its own quality-improvement work.
Does the partner page list hours per semester?
No. The form asks each partner how many contact hours or semesters it can support. JSU's hours come from the 2026-27 catalog, course by course, for example 120 hours in FNP 7869 and 210 in each DNP residency course. Plan against the catalog figure for your course and confirm any conflict with faculty.
