Jax State nursing for New Hampshire residents
A New Hampshire address rules out JSU's two nurse practitioner tracks for now: Jax State weighs applications to them only from Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida and Alabama itself. Its other graduate options, a Post-Master's DNP and a Population Health MSN, publish no state limit and begin with a question to the School of Nursing. New Hampshire's board aims most outside-school rules at pre-licensure students.

JSU's licensure disclosure for its NP programs, last dated October 15, 2021, marks New Hampshire as not yet determined, the label it gives every state except Alabama. Our disclosure explainer looks at that 2021 document more closely.
What New Hampshire's Board of Nursing regulates
The Board works under OPLC, the state's professional licensing office. Nur 602.15(j), its provision on schools from elsewhere, concerns programs that lead to a first nursing license: each such school files a yearly Form A petition, sends six weeks' warning of every planned placement, and submits a Part B placement form per rotation along with a signed agreement from each preceptor.
Graduate and RN-completion study sits elsewhere: OPLC's education page describes RN-to-MSN and RN-to-BSN programs as post-licensure work outside Board regulation, a description JSU's MSN and STEP programs appear to fit. Doctoral residencies go unmentioned, and one online copy of the rule lists it as lapsing in early 2026 though OPLC still cited it that January, so ask OPLC before planning a Post-Master's DNP residency here.
Compact license, full practice and the state's systems
The compact has been live in New Hampshire since January 19, 2018, so a New Hampshire multistate RN license already reaches all five JSU states. Under AANP's ratings, NP practice here is full.
The 2025 census estimates give Manchester-Nashua close to 433,000 people, New Hampshire's slice of greater Boston about 459,000, and the Concord micro area near 158,000. For a sense of the systems, consider Concord Hospital Health System; Dartmouth Health, which runs Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center; Catholic Medical Center, an HCA Healthcare hospital; and SolutionHealth's two founding members, Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health, whose boards moved in July 2025 to wind it down.
A move to one of JSU's five states
Relocating is what opens the NP tracks. Living in any of JSU's five states puts you in the group it considers, while the admission decision stays with JSU. Where JSU prints that limit, and how it reads, is on the admission states page.
Your license would move with you, because a multistate license is tied to the state where you mainly live. Alabama's board, for one, expects a nurse who makes Alabama home to hold an Alabama license. JSU phrases its own RN license requirement two different ways, as the RN license page explains. Anyone already enrolled needs JSU's approval for a change of state.

Questions JSU students ask
Is JSU's FNP track open to someone living in Manchester or Nashua?
Not with a New Hampshire address. JSU considers FNP and AGACNP applicants only from five Southeastern states, a note on its graduate nursing page since at least 2020. After moving to one of them you could apply as a resident there, and JSU's admissions review makes the decision.
Does New Hampshire's Board have to approve JSU before my practicum?
The registration steps target pre-licensure schools, and OPLC's page treats RN-to-MSN and RN-to-BSN study as beyond Board regulation. Doctoral residencies go unaddressed and the rule's current standing is unconfirmed, so check with OPLC and the School of Nursing before counting on a New Hampshire site.
Is the Post-Master's DNP open to New Hampshire residents?
No state list covers it. Jax State's graduate nursing page points would-be Post-Master's DNP applicants to the School of Nursing before they apply, and its DNP pages add that program availability varies by state. Residency details are on the Post-Master's DNP page.
Would my New Hampshire compact license need to change after moving south?
Most likely. A multistate license comes from the state you call home, so once one of JSU's five states becomes your primary residence you would license there. All five are compact members, so the new license keeps the same multistate reach.
