Ohio nurses and JSU's online programs
An Ohio home address keeps you out of the applicant pool for JSU's FNP and AGACNP tracks, which consider only people living in Alabama or one of four neighboring states. JSU publishes no state list for its Post-Master's DNP or its Population Health MSN, and asks out-of-state applicants to reach the School of Nursing first. Ohio law, for its part, sets no Board approval step for outside nursing programs.

Ohio law and students from outside programs
Nothing in the Revised Code asks an out-of-state program to seek the Ohio Board of Nursing's approval or to notify it. Section 4723.32 instead carves out student exemptions: someone in a pre-licensure program approved by an NCSBN member board may practice in Ohio as part of that program, under its auspices and with RN faculty supervision.
Division (F) of that section extends the idea to APRN students. It reaches students whose studies prepare them to sit an approved national certification exam, or who are working toward a qualifying master's or doctoral credential, provided the program sponsors the work and an APRN serving as its faculty member, teaching assistant or preceptor supervises it. What Ohio's higher-education department asks of out-of-state schools was not checked, so confirm that part with the School of Nursing.

JSU's 2021 NP licensure disclosure, dated October 15, leaves Ohio, like every state but Alabama, marked not yet determined, and JSU participates in NC-SARA. The licensure disclosure page covers both.
Practice authority, the compact and Ohio's systems
Ohio is reduced practice in AANP's scheme. Ohio NPs work under a standard care arrangement for as long as they practice, the collaborator can be a physician or a podiatrist, and the practice setting shapes their Schedule II prescribing. The Ohio Board describes the compact as a single multistate license issued by your home state and honored across the other member states.
Three metros of similar size lead the state, as the table shows, with Dayton-Kettering-Beavercreek next at about 827,000. The systems named are examples only.

Moving to Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi or Tennessee
Relocation is the path into the NP tracks. Residence in one of those five states makes you eligible for consideration, and JSU's admissions review decides; see the five-state rule. Licensing follows you: the new home state would issue your multistate license in place of Ohio's, since all five are compact members. Questions JSU students ask
Can a Columbus or Cleveland nurse enroll in JSU's FNP track?
Ohio residency keeps the FNP track closed. Jax State reviews NP-track applications only from people who live in Alabama or its four named neighbors: Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Tennessee. Relocate, and you would apply from the new state, with admission still resting on JSU's review.
Does Ohio require Board approval for a JSU practicum in the state?
Not under Ohio's nursing statute, which gives the Board no approval or notice role over programs from other states and relies instead on the student exemptions of section 4723.32. Confirm the rest with the School of Nursing before planning Ohio hours, including anything Ohio's higher-education department expects.
Who can supervise an APRN student in Ohio under the exemption?
Under division (F), the supervising APRN must be acting for the student's program, in a faculty, teaching-assistant or preceptor role, and the program must sponsor the work. Final approval of each preceptor and site still rests with JSU's faculty; see what JSU publishes on preceptors.
Could an Ohio nurse take JSU's MSN in Population Health?
JSU lists no states for the MSN. Its program pages ask non-Alabama residents to get in touch with the School of Nursing ahead of applying. The MSN runs online, and its practicum hours, 254 apiece, sit in summer's NU 5980 and fall's NU 5985.
